2807 1300kV Motor – The Sweet Spot for 7-inch Long Range FPV
If you're building a 7-inch long range FPV drone, choosing the right motor is critical. Too small, and you'll overheat; too heavy, and you lose efficiency. After testing multiple setups, the 2807 1300kV stands out as a sweet spot for most pilots.
Why 2807 1300kV?
The 7-inch class is all about endurance, stability, and efficiency. Unlike 5-inch freestyle motors that need high kV for quick response, a 7-inch long range drone benefits from lower kV and higher torque.
- 2807 stator size – Provides enough torque to spin 7–7.5 inch props without overheating.
- 1300kV – Perfect for 6S batteries, giving you a balanced cruise current of 5–10A and flight times of 15–25 minutes (depending on weight and battery).
2807 vs Other Options
- 2806.5 1300kV – Slightly lighter, but less torque. May struggle with heavy payloads or aggressive throttle.
- 2810 1200kV – More torque, but heavier. Better for heavy-lift or 8-inch props, overkill for standard 7-inch.
- 2207 1300kV – Not recommended for 7-inch (too small, will overheat).
The 2807 1300kV hits the perfect balance: enough torque for smooth cruising, yet light enough to keep your build under 800g (without battery).
Real-World Performance (Tenswall 2807 1300kV)
We tested our Tenswall 2807 1300kV motor on a typical 7-inch long range build:
- Frame: 7-inch lightweight (≈120g)
- Props: Gemfan 7x3.5x3
- Battery: 6S 3300mAh Li-ion
- All-up weight: ≈850g
- Cruise current: 6–8A @ 60km/h
- Flight time: 22 minutes (mixed cruising)
The motors ran cool even after full 20-minute flights, thanks to the efficient 1300kV winding and high-quality stator.
Who Should Buy This Motor?
- You're building a 7-inch long range drone for mountain surfing, mapping, or cinematic flying.
- You want 15+ minutes of flight time without sacrificing reliability.
- You need a motor that can handle a GoPro or light payload.
If you're building a 5-inch freestyle drone, look for higher kV (1900–2000) – this motor is not for that.
